1) My most successful artwork would have to be the drawing I created for our Home theme. This is because I as if I got more of an appealing look out of it and that overall, I didn't have to redo any aspect of it multiple times until I felt I had got it right. Plus, I just really admire the mantle I created for the snow globe. the color mixture was outstanding in my opinion. 2)The project where I believe I overcame the most obstacles was the drawing I created for our theme of Environment. My reasoning behind this is because of all the texturing that had to go into it to make certain parts of the piece stand out over others, such giving the statue a rusty look due to the overall underwater background of the entire project. 3) The two projects I believe have shown my current growth as an artist would have to be the drawing I created for our first theme of the year known as Man and Machine; and my Home art piece. I consider my first ever themed drawing to be a large improvement on how I used to draw, for normally, my drawings always turned out distorted or misshapen. This shows that when I give it enough attention, my drawings can have improved features. The second drawing overall is a grand transition from my first drawing, for I've improved in mixing colors and giving objects proper shading and dimensions. 4)The new method of teaching that has been introduced has worked wonders for me. I felt that I could really shine by utilizing my own ideas and expressing my creativity through what I believe what was best for the specific theme given to us. It helped that regardless of receiving crash courses on new techniques of art, that I could go back go to something as simple as cross-hatching or pointillism; that I had no restriction to the materials that I could use for my work. |

Artists CollaborateConsidering that December had been around the corner of the time, I decided to get into the Christmas spirit and go with a snow globe to represent the theme of "Home" for Art 1. With the help of my fellow classmate, Casey Brooks, and teacher, Mrs. Barnett, I figured out the background I had wanted and just what color scheme was needed to give my art piece that feeling of home. I was critiqued on how to give my snow globe a more three-dimensional look, and helped with the application of the glitter on the final version of my drawing. In the end, it all came down to basic color blending and learning the pattern of mahogany wood to put it all together. Artists reflectFor this week's theme of "Flight", I've chosen to take more of a vague approach to it. I've chosen to draw an aquatic animal leaping or, quickly surfacing, from water. Fortunately, a flying fish isn't completely out of the picture for this theme considering if you put your mind to it, just about anything can fly. For this mixed media art piece, I've made a repoussé frame and will place the drawing in the center. I'm hoping to maybe skewer in some ripples for a nice visual effect on the repoussé. Although there've been quite a few wrenches thrown in the works on this one, it'll hopefully come out more smooth by the final days of the deadline.
